Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. One kind act can start a ripple effect that impacts an entire community. If we focus on spreading kindness, together we can make the world a better place for everyone.
At Sonny’s, we’re all about kind acts and helpin’ each other out. We asked our guests for their best kindness stories, and they delivered. Here are some of our favorite stories of different ways our guests are Q’ing up some kindness.
A Young Mind Creates a Nonprofit That Lasts a Lifetime
When I was 7 years old, I founded my own nonprofit organization dedicated to children with chronic illnesses or diseases. My organization collects toys and stuffed animals through toy drives. We then bring our donations to sick children in local hospitals. We also donate to schools in need of school supplies so that kids can begin a successful year. – Jayla R.
A Kind Soul Returns a Lost Wallet with a Surprise
There was one time I was at work and found a wallet in the parking lot. I wanted to help return it, so I checked for an ID or debit card. When I found a debit card, I called their bank and they were able to get me in touch with the lady that lost the wallet. I decided to add $100 to the wallet when I returned it to her. – Waymon R.
A Good Samaritan Noticed a Stranger in Need and Sprung into Action
I saw a man lying by the busy highway and although I was hesitant to turn around and go back, I did. It was extremely hot that day and he had a heavy coat on and had overheated and passed out. I called 911, took his coat off and found a partial bottle of water to give him. I stayed with him until paramedics arrived. He had become disoriented looking for the Bus Stop and had walked in the opposite direction of the bus stop. Every time I drive the Lillian Highway in Pensacola, FL I still see the location and wonder how he is doing. This happened Summer of 2021. I usually stop to rescue turtles but thank God I was looking for turtles that day! – Mary Jo C.
A Kind Couple Paid It Forward at a Coffee Shop
I went to a local coffee shop after dinner at Sonny’s in Rock Hill SC. My wife and I got two coffees and there was a woman ahead of us who had four kids. They all got drinks and snacks and the woman forgot her wallet at home and I paid for her order. – Michael C.
A Friend Donates His Sports Memorabilia for a Good Cause
A friend of mine runs a nonprofit charity centered around donating prosthetic limbs to those who have lost a limb. He posted on Facebook that he needed some auction items for his fundraiser coming up soon. I have a lot of signed sports memorabilia, so I contacted him, showed him pictures, and asked if I could donate them to his fundraiser. He is picking up roughly $1,000 worth of signed sports memorabilia tomorrow. – Ann B.
