Happy Fall, y’all. It may be gettin’ a little cooler out, but we’ve got a few recipes to warm you up. Our Pitmasters put together two ways to perfectly pair Pumpkin Spice with BBQ, and they’re about to be your new traditions. Let’s get cookin’.
1: Pumpkin Spice BBQ Rub
Sweet & salty, this is perfect to sprinkle over some roasted pumpkin seeds, or it’s definitely good enough for your next rack of ribs. Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Rub Recipe:
- In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients
Pumpkin Seeds Recipe:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- In a separate bowl, coat seeds with oil, season with rub
- Mix seeds until evenly coated
- Spread onto an ungreased baking sheet
- Bake for 12-15 mins until golden brown & crunchy
2: Pumpkin Spice BBQ Sauce
Forget the Pumpkin Spice Latte, how about slatherin’ some BBQ Sauce all over your next rack of St. Louis Ribs? Simmer this up in just an hour, and you’ll be ready for your next get-together. Whether it’s Halloween or Thanksgiving, this will give a fall feel to any cut of pork you’re preparin’.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ketchup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
BBQ Sauce Recipe:
- In a medium saucepan, combine all of the ingredients over medium heat.
- Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for 20-25 minutes.
- Remove the pan from heat, let the sauce slightly cool, and transfer to a sealed jar or container.
- Refrigerate the sauce while you prepare your pork. The flavors will combine and mellow together overnight.
