The Sonny’s BBQ in Viera, FL recently had the privilege of honoring a very special member of their community with a Random Acts of BBQ.
As a nurse for Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center, Debbie Cash showed true kindness to Sonny’s team member, Shellie Chapman, when she was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Shellie never forgot the strength Debbie inspired in her at the time of her diagnosis. Her words of encouragement and compassion helped her through some of her toughest battles. But up until this special Random Acts of BBQ, Shellie never knew her nurse’s name.
We couldn’t think of a better way to bring the two together again than over a BBQ feast with their closest friends and colleagues, where we honored Debbie with a certificate of appreciation (and plenty of pulled pork).
We raise a rib to you, Debbie, for settin’ the bar real high when it comes to makin’ a positive difference in the lives of others.
If you know of someone who goes the extra mile in their community, submit a nomination here for a chance to be considered for a little surprise BBQ recognition. Our Random Acts of BBQ initiative is ongoing, and we welcome all to share their stories of putting others first as we continue to spread the spirit of BBQ in our communities.
